See What We’re Moving Forward
Projects That Turn Vision Into Access
Trails & Open Space Coalition is helping create more ways for people to connect with the outdoors across the Pikes Peak region. Through projects, tools, and access efforts, we’re making it easier for more people to explore, discover, and enjoy the places that make this region feel like home.
That kind of connection matters, and member support helps make more of it possible. Become a member today, and help us bring more people closer to the outdoors.
Big Vision. Real Impact.
Some projects expand access. Some make exploration easier. Some create new ways for people to learn, participate, and belong outdoors.
Each one plays a different role, but they all move in the same direction. They help bring people closer to the parks, trails, and open spaces that shape life in the Pikes Peak region and the Southern Front Range. And when people can experience those places more fully, they’re far more likely to value them, support them, and stand behind them in the future.
Ways We’re Bringing the Outdoors Closer
Marlow Outdoor Search Tool
For a lot of people, getting outside doesn’t start at the trailhead. It starts with knowing where to go, what fits their day, and what kind of place will make them want to come back. Marlow helps make that first step easier.
Marlow is our interactive outdoor discovery tool. It gives people a better way to explore the region, discover somewhere new, and turn “we should get outside sometime” into something real. Search by parks, trails, or even by activity type, and find the perfect match for your next outing.
The Botanic Gardens
The Botanic Gardens is a future public destination focused on sustainable land stewardship, native ecosystems, and hands-on conservation education.
This project-in-progress is meant to give the community a place to engage more directly with the landscapes of the Pikes Peak region. Through education, stewardship, and public access, the Botanic Gardens will help more people understand the land, connect with it, and see why its long-term care matters.
Legacy Loop
Through the Legacy Loop, we’re bringing a 150-year-old vision to life. Inspired by General William J. Palmer’s dream of a city connected by greenways, this nearly 10-mile urban trail loop is designed to serve as the central hub of Colorado Springs’ regional trail system, linking major corridors like the Pikes Peak Greenway, Midland Trail, and Mesa Springs Greenway.
With 9.2 miles complete, we’re pushing this effort toward the finish line by advocating for the final connection known as the Southern Gap. Closing the last stretch will improve access, strengthen connections between neighborhoods, and fulfill a long-standing community vision.
Track Chair Access
The outdoors shouldn’t stop where pavement ends.
We’re working to fundraise for track chairs, adaptive wheelchairs designed to help people experience rugged terrain and outdoor spaces that traditional mobility devices often can’t reach.
This effort is about more than equipment. It’s about freedom. It’s about dignity. It’s about making sure more people can experience the beauty, challenge, and joy of the outdoors in ways that feel possible, not limited.
Be Part of What Comes Next
The future of the Pikes Peak region will be shaped by what we choose to build, support, and protect right now.
When you support Trails & Open Space Coalition, you help move projects forward that expand access, strengthen stewardship, and bring more people into a lasting relationship with the outdoors.
That’s how connection grows and public land protection lasts.
